May 2008 Archives
A year has passed and I had to hand over my reign to new blood. The quest to find the next Queen ended on the night on 20th May, Tues around 12.15 am (Wed early morning to be exact). Congratulations to Shenise Wong! I wish her all the best and hope the carries the torch with pride and bring home glory!
It was a bitter sweet feeling that night watching this year's pageant and I felt nostalgic all over again. I remember how intense MSU2007 was that night of 22 April. It went by so quickly that U hardly had time to be nervous or think about the scale of being in the pageant for the matter. Every 3 min commercial break was a mad rush to change, touch up make up, change hair style and get into your correct line-up position back stage!
I vividly remember there was a tiny TV screen backstage for the rest who are waiting to watch the girl performing on stage and when U return the girls will tell U your points, the crowds reaction, make up artist advising on how U look on stage etc etc...
I'm happy my year went by very smoothly and I'm proud to say I managed to make use of my title to give back to society in one way or another. I did up a video of my past year and will post it up soon once my friend helps me upload it on YouTube. :)
In the meantime, enjoy the photos of that night!

As promised!
U can tell from the pictures how windy it was there due to the typhoon that was passing through. Sporadic rain made shooting a whole lot fun! Was running in and out of shelter in the bridal gowns just to capture the "dry" moments! It was hilarious but a whole lot of fun! I looked more like a runaway bride most of the time! *haha*
Enjoy the pics!

The wonderful and creative photographer, Eliza Phua (she shot my LIME mag pics too!)

naughty lil Flying Fox wanted to pick my nose for me!!! *LOL*

We had to take this ferry over from Caticlan to Boracay. (it was a whole 12 hour journey from S'pore! - 2 flights, 1 1.5hr bus ride, a 20min ferry ride, another 30min bus ride to the hotel)

received a warm welcome from the hotel staff when we got there!

Make me pretty!!!

Mexican lunch on our 1st day of shoot.

Check out the HUGE waves in the background!
Love my Nike top! Makes great beach wear cum gym wear!!! So versatile!
This coral decoration is at the restaurant where we shot on the 2nd day. Beautiful ain't it?
Wheeeeeee..............

Goofing around while waiting for lunch on Day 2. *hungry*
A meal worth waiting for!!! Yummy local seafood in sweet sour/ketchup like sauce. My fav is still the fried calamari!!! Mmmmmm.....

Discovery Shore hotel was so wonderful to invite us to a private party just for the staff!
Poor lil animal all caged up... :(

They have a lot of cute friendly strays in Boracay. The locals feed them but they're free to roam!

naughty lil Flying Fox wanted to pick my nose for me!!! *LOL*
My new found friend, Bora! (Bora means bubbles in Tagalog. Hence Boracay = Bubbles Island)

Para-sailing.... Watch him fly!
More seafood lunch on Day 3.

Hello!
I just got back from the Style Weddings photo shoot in Boracay, Philippines!!!! This issue will be out end August. It was great fun! Though there was a typhoon when we were there. But more about this later!
Last Tuesday, before I left for Boracay, I was at the OSIM Singapore International Triathlon Launch together with MP Teo Ser Luck. Here's the photos of the event!

Took my blood pressure and body fat content and I'm really healthy!!! heee hee..

Hihi!!!
I'll be flying off to Boracay early tmw morning and I am so looking forward to that trip! I'm going over there for a photo shoot and heard that the place has pristine beaches, white sands - one of the most beautiful beaches in the world! Traveling there is not gonna be easy tho with 2 flights there, a bus ride then a ferry ride! *gasp*
This afternoon I was in Takashimaya Square to launch the OSIM Singapore International Triathlon event which is held on 12 & 13 July. I will be taking part in its mini triathlon. :) Looking forward to training and becoming super fit! That is why recently, I've got the Nike+ Sportsband to help me in my personal training. It looks super cool - just like a bangle/watch. Take a look!
It's super cool... U just place the chip in any Nike+ enabled shoe and just run! It'll record your run, calories burnt and distance covered! :)
Here's the photos taken on 10 May during my Preserve Planet Earth Project in Johor Bahru. Miss Malaysia Universe 2007 Ms Adelaine Chin was there to join me for the event as well and it was real nice to see a familiar face and catch up! Plenty of Malaysian ministers and JB's Mayor was there to grace this event as well.

This sapling was planted by me! There's a Singapore sign below it to mark that it's planted by me. :) It's now by the Sungei Tebrau River and I hope it'll grow big and strong!
That's all for now... gotta zzz..... need to wake up real early tmw morning for my flight! I'll upload more pics of this preserve planet earth project and the OSIM launch when I get back! for now....Nite!

I finally embarked on planting my trees or "Plant-a Tree" as promised during my MSU 07 crowning! After one year and nearing the end of my reign, I managed to fulfill my goal and dream in doing so with the students in Singapore!!! :)
This is done in conjuction with NEA's latest Energy Efficient Singapore Programme and launch of a short film called "Super Saver" where a Sec 1 Chung Cheng High boy is the main lead. I'm also starring in it as his teacher and "fairy of the forest"! Hee hee... Here's a banner on it!

Catch the official launch of the short film on 23 May 2008 at Y2Y Network.
This morning I planted another tree but this time in Johor Bahru at Sungei Tebrau as part of the "Preserve Planet Earth" project as the Rotary Club Youth Ambassador. (More on this later)
Here's the photos of the events that happened on 9 May, Friday.
Sitting amongst the students, waiting to go on stage to introduce our short film.

Talking about my experience acting with the Sec 1 boys and being their teacher!
Telling everyone about my latest article in Citta Bella May issue (Jacelyn Tay on cover) about saving the environment. Go get it!!!!

Now, moving on to planting a Honey Star Fruit tree with Super Saver! (Don't U think he looks like Superhero Robin?)

Pouring in the soil and officially planting it in!

Now, to give it some water and spark of life!
And finally placing in the plaque in front of the tree... Let's see how long it will take to grow up! :) I shall visit it again in a few months time!

Zaki the photographer who helped me get some wonderful shots!
Hope U enjoyed the pics as much as I had fun there!

I've been down with high fever (38.5 degrees) since Sunday evening. Yes! THREE whole days of fever!!! Woo hoo!!! I really dread getting a fever as I've to suffer though the whole agony of having one. Reason being my allergy to most drugs to cure fever namely Aspirin and Panadol. So, I've to force myself to take cold showers even though my body is extremely weak, sleep with ice packs all over my head, and drink lotsa "se2 cao2 sui3" or Oldenlandia Water (my reliable fever companion). And basically just sleep or you can call "suffer" though the fever! Sweat it out, sleep it off, fight it off with my natural immune system, whatever.... I've been in bed sleeping the past 3 days and only today I'm remotely strong enough to actually blog!
And cause of this viral fever of mine, I missed today's filming which I feel really bad but I'm in no state to be in front of the camera and my manager did ask whether I had DENGUE!!! Due the the recurring fever. Which also suddenly woke me up to take this fever seriously. Better not go to set with the possibility of dengue in my blood! Don't want to be a carrier! So went back to the Doc's today to get a blood test (it cost me freaking $112!) :( and the Doc called me back a couple of hours later to tell me I don't have dengue!!! *phew* (sigh of relief)
Hope my fever don't come back and I can go to work tmw morn!!

Hello!!!
I've not updated my blog for some days now... had a busy week and was very tired from the dance rehearsals for Fei Teng Bing Dian, to photoshoot for a fashion feature in I Weekly, to filming, to auditions, celebrating my birthday and organising stuff for my new home! *pant pant*
Dance rehearsals had been a little tough on me as we are required to learn the dance in a short time and I'm not a very experienced dancer as some - the last time I was officially trained in dance was in primary school for Chinese dance and it's very different from Ballet! Which is the main foundation of the dance I'm learning now! So crash course in Ballet for me! Did Indian dance for President Star Charity last year but that is easy compared to what I'm learning now!!! Hee hee... I've accumulated quite a number of "blue-blacks" on my knee due to the floor work in the dance routine!!! But all in all I actually do enjoy the dance training lessons though I struggle at times but its a great workout and an art I've always loved! (I regretted not taking up ballet when I was younger!)
Here's some photos taken during our rehearsals with Jeanette and the dancers who are really coaching us well!!!

Notice the knee guards I'm wearing!!! Hee that's to prevent more bruises from forming! My knees look "dirty" now cos of it and can't wear my fav short skirts n shorts esp. when the weather's been blazing hot lately!
Speaking of weather.... was filming for a couple of hours with Jeanette the other day in the hot afternoon sun around 1pm outdoors and I was burnt tho' I had sunblock on! Got myself some funky tan lines on my body and arms!! *haha* and today I realised I was actually burnt as my forehead started peeling!!! For a moment I was wondering what's wrong with my skin then I remembered my days in the sun... :P
That's all for now... time to Zzzzz....
Till we meet again!
